Short answer: The DJI Avata 360 is DJI's first 360-degree FPV drone. Two 64 MP sensors record 8K/60fps HDR spherical video you can reframe after the flight, and a Single Lens mode shoots classic 4K/60fps FPV footage, all inside a guarded cinewhoop frame. At about 455 g it is a Micro-category drone in India, so it must be registered on Digital Sky, and you need a DGCA Remote Pilot Certificate to fly it commercially.

Key takeaways
- Twin 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors (64 MP each, f/1.9, 200° field of view) shoot 8K/60fps 360° video, 6K/60fps 360° video and 120 MP 360° photos.
- Single Lens mode records 4K/60fps and 2.7K at up to 120fps, so it also works as a standard FPV camera.
- DJI rates it at about 23 minutes of flight. It has omnidirectional vision sensing, a forward-facing LiDAR, built-in propeller guards and 42 GB of internal storage.
- O4+ transmission sends a 1080p/60fps feed up to 20 km (FCC) or 10 km (CE).
- HobiTech prices before GST: Avata 360 Fly More Combo (DJI RC 2) ₹1,34,990, Avata 360 Motion Fly More Combo ₹1,44,990, Avata 2 Fly More Combo ₹1,36,990.
What is new with the Avata 360
DJI announced the Avata 360 on 26 March 2026 and shipping began in April.
The big change is the camera. Earlier Avata drones have one forward-facing camera, so you have to point the drone at the action while you fly. The Avata 360 has two opposing 200° lenses, each on its own 1/1.1-inch square sensor. DJI describes the setup as "1-inch-equivalent". Together they capture the whole sphere around the drone. In editing you choose the angle, the framing and even the virtual camera moves.
The second change is safety. The Avata 2 senses only downward and backward. The Avata 360 adds omnidirectional vision sensing, which DJI says also works in low light ("nightscape" sensing), plus a forward-facing LiDAR and a downward infrared sensor. Propeller guards are built into the frame, and the front lens element can be swapped with a replacement kit DJI sells separately.

Camera and video modes explained
In 360° mode the Avata 360 records 8K (7680 × 3840) or 6K (6000 × 3000) at up to 60fps, at a maximum bitrate of 180 Mbps. Photos go up to 120 MP (15520 × 7760) in JPEG or DNG. Colour modes are Normal and D-Log M.
Single Lens mode turns the drone into a conventional FPV camera. It records 4K in 16:9 or 4:3 at up to 60fps, or 2.7K at up to 120fps for slow motion. DJI notes that the 4:3 options need DJI Goggles 3 or N3 paired with the RC Motion 3 or FPV Remote Controller 3.
Most of the editing happens in the DJI Fly app and DJI Studio. DJI lists ActiveTrack 360°, Spotlight Free, FPV mode, a virtual gimbal and GyroFrame one-tap editing. Footage transfers over Wi-Fi 6 at up to 100 MB/s. The 42 GB internal storage holds about 30 minutes of 8K 360° video before you need a microSD card.
Which combo should you buy?
HobiTech stocks both Avata 360 bundles. If you mainly want reframed 360° footage, choose the Avata 360 Fly More Combo (DJI RC 2) at ₹1,34,990 before GST. The screen-equipped RC 2 suits travel, real-estate and event work.
If you want the immersive first-person experience, choose the Avata 360 Motion Fly More Combo at ₹1,44,990 before GST. It pairs the drone with DJI Goggles N3 and the one-handed RC Motion 3, which DJI says makes drifts and other acrobatic moves approachable for beginners.
The Avata 2 Fly More Combo at ₹1,36,990 before GST is still the choice for pilots who want manual acro flying and a single forward camera with a higher top speed: 27 m/s in Manual mode, against 18 m/s in the Avata 360's Sport mode. If you mainly want to try FPV cheaply, the DJI Neo Motion Fly More Combo at ₹74,990 before GST gives you goggles and motion control on a Nano-category drone. Compare more in the DJI Avata series.
Rules for flying the Avata 360 in India
At about 455 g, the Avata 360 sits above the 250 g Nano limit, in the Micro category (over 250 g up to 2 kg) under India's Drone Rules, 2021. Before you fly, register it on DGCA's Digital Sky portal to get a Unique Identification Number (UIN), and check the airspace map for green, yellow and red zones. You don't need a Remote Pilot Certificate for non-commercial Micro flying. For paid work such as weddings, real estate or brand shoots, you need a DGCA Remote Pilot Certificate from an authorised drone school. HobiTech does not run DGCA pilot training. Our DGCA drone rules guide for 2026 explains the process step by step.
Flying with goggles means you are watching the video feed rather than the drone itself, so use a spotter and stay well clear of people.
